What started as a hobby of restoring old cars became a new career for Mick Bellows.
He was the director of the parts warehouse for White Consolidated Industries when
they decided to move the warehouse to North Carolina. After flying back and forth for
a few years, Mick decided to change careers. Mick and his wife, Linda, purchased the
“old Russell’s Airport” building from Richard Russell and Doug Russell in 1988.
In January of 1989, MTB Auto and Body officially opened its doors for business
at this sight. The MTB stands for Mick’s initials, Michael Thomas Bellows.
Sadly, in June of 1993, Mick passed away from cancer. However, he had some great
workers on board that kept the place going. In August of 1993, one of the employees, Larry
McKeown, purchased the business from Linda. Larry has continued to expand the business
and take care of its customers in the same fashion as Mick did. Mick would be proud! Larry
also has with him two of the other “original” MTB employees: Ray Lahr, and Mick and Linda’s daughter, Lynn Marie.
And the rest, as they say, is… history!
